California's Context

Different Drummers supplemental materials were developed in California to meet the needs of public school teachers to include more diversity in their "teaching about religion" curriculum.  [California mandates " teaching about religion" and its History/Social Science Framework and Content Standards have placed religion content in grades 6, 7, and 8.]

DD was pilot tested in California public schools, grades 6, 7, and 8.  Pilot teachers helped correlate content within the supplemental module with the curriculum framework and standards (grades 6-12).

The instructional module was reviewed for legal compliance and approved with respect to social content by the California Department of Education.  California schools can use school funds to purchase these supplemental materials.

Getting Your "California Supplement"

The set of DD materials is correlated with the current California Standards and Framework 2000.  If you teach in California, you may Email us at instrnsys@aol.com and request a free copy (provide mailing address for hard copy or E-address for an attached file).
